 *** Customer Notice - Guitar Strings ***

As of the 1st January 2015, strings will be chargeable in addition to any work carried out.
This is due to there being such a wide variety and cost of strings on the market these days.

We hope this is understandable and we thank you for your continued custom.

Repairs and Restoration

Not only does 'J. White Guitar Workshop's build high quality instruments, but we also do all kinds of high quality repair and restoration work on any wooden musical instrument.

All of the work is of a very high standard, and at a very reasonable price. So if you have an old beaten up wooden instrument hidden away somewhere, then dig it out! You will be amazed at the results.

Snapped necks, dents, heavy scratches, resprays, refrets, visual makeovers. If you can imagine it... we can do it.

If your guitar has a broken headstock, don't panic.... Save all the little pieces and try and keep them in position the best you can. Bring it to us so we can work our magic.  The repair on the joint will be stronger than the wood itself so will never split in the same place again. Often the repair is completely invisible but we always state that the repair would be virtually un-noticeable.

Of course... like with all repairs, prices vary. So, give us a call, email us or pop your guitar over to us and we will go from there. We can sometime give estimates via emails, so you are welcome to send us photos or describe your guitar's problem in as much detail as possible so we can give you a rough estimation on cost.

Whatever you want, we can accommodate your requirements. No job is too big or too small!

Please contact us for further information.

Gibson Les Paul - Broken Headstock / Snapped Neck

Take a look at this classic example of a snapped headstock. If you were the owner of this classic Gibson, wouldn't you be mortified? The pictures here show the broken headstock / snapped neck when it was brought into us...

The split in the neck is gently opened, glued and clamped back shut under pressure. The repair is then filled, sanded, filled, sanded and so on, until the neck is complete again. Stains, paints and lacquers are applied next. Once the paints and lacquers are completely dry, the neck is then polished until you get the result shown in the next set of images...

The repair is virtually undetectable! In many cases, the split is not noticeable at all! .....Awesome!

Gibson ES-335 - Broken Headstock / Snapped Neck

This guitar came in with a cracker of a split neck!...

The neck was stripped down and prepared for gluing. Once glued, the split was clamped under pressure. When completely dry and set, the damaged area was filled and sanded. In this case, we can't disguise the crack with paint so the stain and grain patterns were hand drawn to help make the old split less visible. One of many coats of lacquer was then applied and the neck was polished and reassembled.

The repair is barely noticeable, a beautiful job if we do say so ourselves!
