The Workshops For those of you who don't already know, I work from home, this pretty much allows me to work 7 days a week from about 8am - 8pm !! The 'J. White Guitar Workshops' team consists of myself (Joe White) I'm the guy who works all the magic stuff with the wood, my wife (Sue White), she does all the boring stuff like paper work, organising everything and making the best cup of Tea in the world ! and my son (James White), who does a lot of the technical stuff like marketing, web design and general business advice. The workshops consists of 3 main areas... 1. The Old Workshop - This was my first workshop, a converted room of the house, most of the 'hands on' work is done here, like carving, sanding, fretting, wiring, setups etc. this room over the years has seen the sawdust and wood carvings of 1000's of guitars. Recently I have found it a bit cramped for the amount of work I turn around and therefore needed to expand to..... 2. The New Workshop - The new workshop is approximately 10 times bigger than the old workshop and is still currently under construction. This workshop is where I carry out a lot of the 'beefy jobs', sawing, machine wood thinning, tool sharpening, spraying etc. (Wifey was moaning too much about the noise and mess in the house, thought it best I got outside into a new workshop (sorry Sue).
3. The customer area - This is basically the dining room, an area that customers can sit down, talk to me about guitars, setups and services, try out guitars etc.etc whilst experiencing the pleasures of a lovely cuppa ! (so long as Sue is around, I wouldn't want to poison anyone with my efforts)

GUITAR SERVICING Give your guitar a new lease of life with one of my professional Set-Ups. Does your guitar 'buzz', strings too far from the frets, fingerboard gone dry? these are just a few common problems you might have if your instrument is not serviced. Many 'High Street' shops will offer a set-up at a very cheap rate. You wont get very much for your money, and often the shops have been known to make problems worse! Here at my Guitar Workshops you will get a true professional set-up tailored to your individual playing style. You will receive a personal 'J. White guitar Workshops' service booklet to keep for your records.
GUITAR AGEING I've had loads of customers over years who have required repairs or wanted respray's who did not want to lose the authentic look of their old relic. Some people spend a lot of money on a brand new guitar and they just don't like the 'new look' that it has. They want something more original looking. I am able to offer many different types and levels of ageing depending on the customers requirements such as... Nitrocellulose cracking, dents, scratches, wear marks, discolourations of plastics, fingerboard wear.... anything ! Click on the picture above to see an example of some major ageing of a guitar after a complete respray, new scratch plate and pickup covers. Everything you see in the picture is new!
CUSTOM BUILT GUITARS Would you like something special built? No problem ! I have lots of customers who have come to me who require something special and unique made. I will sit down with you one to one over a cuppa or two and discuss your special requirements. It maybe a guitar that you saw many years ago but don't know what it is, or maybe its your own design. Whatever it is, I can make it for you. Below are a couple of photos of a very special request by a special customer of mine (all the best Patrick) The 'Cuban Tres'
The Cuban Tres is said to have originated in the Oriente province
among Cuban rural farmers called guajiros. They were influenced by
Spanish songs but mixed these styles with African elements resulting
in the "Son" style. New York Salsa music and Latin Jazz grew out of
the Son style, incorporating clave rhythms and the instrumentation of
Son conjuntos.

REPAIRS & RESTORATION Not only does 'J. White Guitar Workshop's build high quality instruments, but I also do all kinds of high quality repair and restoration work on any wooden musical instrument. All of my work is of a very high standard, at a very reasonable price. So if you have an old beaten up wooden instrument hidden away somewhere, then dig it out! You will be amazed at the results. Snapped necks, dents, heavy scratches, resprays, refrets, visual makeovers. If you can imagine it... ...I can do it. !! Take a look at this classic example of a snapped headstock. (Photos below) If you were the owner of the classic Gibson, wouldn't you be mortified?... well, things aren't all that bad. .... After a relatively quick repair, this little beauty will be glued, filled, sanded, coloured, sprayed and buffed ! The repair will hardly be noticeable and the repair joint is guaranteed to be stronger than the wood itself ! Major body breaks, no problem. After I have finished my work, it will look great ! Below is an old beat up Hofner... ..Of course... like with all repairs, prices vary. So, give me a call, email me or pop your guitar over to me and we'll go from there. I can sometime give estimates via emails if you send photos or describe your guitars problem. Fender Stratocaster 25th Anniversary model respray in a pearlecent white. New Decals designed and made special for this project. Whatever you want, I'm sure I can accommodate your requirements. No job is too big or too small.
